Waterbank Precinct
Lendlease was awarded the contract to redevelop the Waterbank precinct of the Riverside development, and has retained JBS&G to provide advice on the management of environmental issues and risk at the site. The Waterbank site was historically subject to uncontrolled filling during its reclamation, and has since been found to be affected by a range of environmental contaminants. In addition, due to its location, it is expected to contain Potential Acid Sulfate Soils (PASS), which require careful management to prevent their oxidisation and acid production. The six-hectare site is planned to be surcharged, extracting excess water from the reclaimed land, to allow construction of a man-made cove.
JBS&G was engaged to provide guidance on key milestones within the assessment remediation, and reclassification regulatory process for the site, and to identify and make recommendations on any notable contamination risks present at the site. JBS&G has identified environmental issues associated with the proposed remediation works in a number of media.
