“I start my day early, checking emails and Teams messages as soon as I arrive.

When on site, I set up air monitors, overseeing asbestos removal, and collecting samples post-removal.

Back in the office, I send samples to the lab and upload field notes and photos.

I also usually grab coffee with a colleague or enjoy one from our Beach Bar coffee machine.

During lunch, the team and I would participate in our newspaper trivia in the kitchen. I then dive back into work ensuring everything is prepped for the next day.”

"I started at JBS&G in 2018 as a graduate with a background in marine science and palaeontology, with very little exposure or understanding of what environmental consulting entailed.

I was initially exposed to a range of different contaminated land assessments and enjoyed the conceptual stages of site investigation and collection of quantitative field data (soil/groundwater/vapour samples), which fed my inner scientist! The initial years of conducting field assessment proved to be a constant learning curve, where I was exposed to data interpretation and problem solving. I worked hard on honing my field skills and my understanding of the relevant regulatory frameworks. I began developing client relationships and management skills and was provided opportunities to take jobs on as a junior project manager within the first two years.

I now have over 6 years experience and am one of Sydney’s CLM Team Leaders and Associate. My career progression is a testament to JBS&G's diverse client base, having been afforded opportunities to work on a range of different projects, with constant support and guidance from the range of contaminated land professionals in the company."
