Refinery Site Selection and Environmental Approval Strategy and Review

Our Perth based mining team worked closely with Lithium WA, leading the site selection assessment and environmental screening review of refinery alternatives for the joint venture between Kidman Resources Limited and Sociedad Química y Minera on the proposed Earl Grey Lithium Mine.

Working with Lithium WA and LandCorp, we evaluated the approval strategy for a number of potential sites, including the site at Kwinana and assisted WA Lithium identify potential risks and opportunities at each site, and led workshops to help define the preferred alternative.

Construction on the refinery commenced in March 2019. It is expected to produce around 40,000 tonnes per annum of lithium carbonate and/or lithium hydroxide and create more than 400 jobs.
