Ammonia Remediation

Fertiliser spills resulted in highly variable concentrations of ammonia and nitrogen in groundwater at the site and also extending hydraulically down gradient towards the marine environment. Groundwater remediation trials undertaken at laboratory and in field pilot scale testing identified that it was possible to establish two in-situ treatment zones for the sequential removal of ammonia and nitrate. A full scale remediation program has been instigated.
